In 2007, the Christkindlmarket Chicago premiered a satellite market in the Oakbrook Shopping Center which ran during late October through early November. The satellite market was on a smaller scale but provided the same authentic German experience to the Western Suburbs for those who didn't have the time to visit the main market in downtown Chicago.

The satellite market posed design and logistical challenges: coherently integrating the existing market structures into an existing facility, safely transporting the cabins and related materials from the warehouse in Chicago to the suburbs and finally, the take-down and reintegration of the structures back into the then-ongoing Christkindlmarket Chicago installation. Through careful planning and coordination, the installation and reintegration process went smoothly.

The 2007 satellite market was such a success it will not only be returning in 2008 but will also increase in size by over 50%.
